“Anyone and everyone should have access to the same resources to plan for their futures and plan for their families. We’re here to help mamas have babies when they’re ready to have babies”. Maggie Wood joined the A Step Ahead team in June 2019 as the Executive Director of A Step Ahead Tri-Cities (ASAFTC), and she brings to the table her passion and drive for reproductive access coupled with healthcare management experience. Prior to joining ASAFTC she worked as the Director of Rehabilitation for the Santa Cruz Psychiatric Health Facility, running the group program and managing a team of therapists serving adults in inpatient care during psychiatric crises. In her time working in inpatient psych, she saw that some systems are not set up to support the specific needs of women and moms. She felt compelled to do what she could, which led her to ASAFTC, working to increase the accessibility of the most effective reversible contraceptives available, and help prevent unintended pregnancies.
